Course Syllabus: What will you learn?

During the course, you will go through a mix of theory, hands-on teaching practice, and reflective exercises - preparing you to enter a classroom with confidence.

1. Teaching Practice:

Teach real students in both group and one-on-one settings, helping you gain confidence and practical experience with valuable feedback from our instructors.

2. Foundations of Language and Teaching:

Explore Second Language Acquisition (SLA) theory, teaching methodologies, and the principles behind Communicative Language Teaching (CLT).

3. Language Awareness:

We will explore and develop your knowledge of the following grammatical aspects: Word Classes, Modal and Conditional Verbs, Sentence Elements (SVOCA), Verb Tenses, and Phonology, including the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).

4. Lesson Planning:

On our course, you will develop the skills necessary to design, execute, and evaluate lessons for students with a wide range of age and ability. You will learn about a broad variety of techniques which you can employ to guarantee your success and the success of your students. Furthermore, you will be prepared to manage your lessons in a way that all learning objectives will be confidently and enjoyably achieved.

5. Materials Development:

You will have the opportunity to design and produce your own original materials. Instructors will guide you as you learn about the intricacies of thoughtful materials development. You will create activities that reflect your personality and also serve the individual needs of your students.

TEFL Course Schedule: Daily Timetable

Our TEFL course follows a structured daily schedule designed to balance theory, input sessions, and practical teaching effectively.

  • Start Time: The course begins on Monday at 8:30 AM, with a full schedule for the rest of the course provided on the first day.
  • Morning Sessions: These sessions run from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. We explore the theoretical and grammatical aspects of language teaching.
  • Lunch Break: 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM - a chance to relax and recharge.
  • Afternoon Sessions: Post-lunch sessions take place from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, which is often dedicated to workshops on lesson planning and materials development.

Over the duration of the TEFL course, you will deliver a minimum of 10 teaching practice lessons with real students. These lessons may take place in:

  • English conversation schools (Eikaiwas)
  • Public elementary schools
  • Private preschools
  • Universities

This structure ensures that you receive theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and hands-on experience every day.

TEFL Course Assessment

On our course, evaluation is a constant narrative between instructors and trainees. This includes trainees' self-evaluations, their evaluations of each other, and instructors' evaluations of trainees. This verbal feedback is always given in a supportive and encouraging manner. There is no formal examination as we place an emphasis on learning, not testing.
